Church family,

I hope you have had a productive week.  I am excited about our new adventure together as we explore the incredible insight God reveals to us from the book of Proverbs.  Sunday, January 8th, will be the foundational message for the series “A Word To The Wise”.  In the weeks that follow we will discuss truth filled and faith provoking proverbs in areas such as:  Relationships, Character, Finances, Choices, Parenting, Integrity, Work, and more!

I am encouraged by the many who have taken the Proverbs Challenge issued last Sunday.  The challenge is to read one chapter a day through the month of January.  Since there are 31 chapters and 31 days in Proverbs it works out well.  I can almost hear the sigh’s of those who haven’t started yet and think “great, I am already 6 days behind”.  I have good news, first it really doesn’t take that long to catch up, most chapters can be read in a couple of minutes.  But remember, we are not reading to check off a list, but to learn.  Why not start today, with chapter 6 and then when February starts you can read the earlier chapters?  You can do it, and with many of us doing it together, it will be a great way to learn together!

January Memory Verse:

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

I also want to thank everyone who had a part in raising money to repair broken down water wells in Burkina Faso.  It takes approximately $3,000 to repair one well and we raised $5,505.66 through the month of December.   Updates will follow as Living Waters International reports back to us about the location of the wells and how the message of Jesus Christ was presented.

Ladies:

Remember the following dates:

Saturday, January 14th, at 6:00 pm there will be a soup potluck in fellowship hall, followed by praise and worship in the sanctuary with Pat Burns as the featured speaker.

Also starting January 22nd at 7:00 pm a ladies Bible Study “Real Women, Real Faith” Part 2 will meet in the Hospitality Room.  If you are interested, please sign up in the Church Lobby by January 15th so that materials can be ordered.

12/30/2011

A great way to start out 2012 will be to worship Jesus Christ with the rest of the church family.  I do trust you all had a great Christmas celebration.  Between the Christmas Eve service and Christmas Day, 297 individuals joined us in worship.

We are back to our regular schedule of services on January 1.

8:00 am Worship Service

9:15 am LIFE Connection/Sunday School

10:45 am Worship Service

I will share the final message in the JOY, JOY, JOY series, which will provide great perspective for the new year.  I am also excited about the new series coming up based on the book of Proverbs.  God is doing some great things throughout the ministry of Concordia Wesleyan.  Hope to see you Sunday!!

12/2/2011

We had an incredible worship experience this past Sunday.  I anticipate another great day as we explore the JOY God has for us in Christ.  Remember our definition:  Joy is celebrating God’s life in us.   This Sunday we will be in Philippians 2, as we explore what God has to teach us in living a life of joy.

Many have asked about getting a template for the JOY sign we have on stage.  We have made several templates and they are available on a first come first serve basis. ( Another reason to consider the 8:00 worship service.)  We just ask that you trace the template out in a timely manner and get it back to the church so someone else can use it.

I encourage you to invite your friends and family to join you in LIFE Connections and in worship.  God is doing some great things within this body of believers and you not only want to be a part of it, but also have those you love and care about be a part of it as well.

See you Sunday!!

Church Family,

Just a few thoughts as we head into the weekend.

What an incredible night we shared together on October 31.  650 children and their families attended this year’s Trunk-N-Treat.   The weather was perfect, but honestly that is something we had little control of.  The best part was the planning, the teamwork, the participation, the love of Christ, that was demonstrated through the dozens of volunteers.  Everyone  who brought a car, helped with set-up, clean-up, served pop corn, hot chocolate, worked the information table, helped get the soup supper  ready, or just lent a helping hand wherever necessary contributed to a great time of ministry.    Yesterday I had two encounters with people from our community who attended.  The first was my doctor, and I asked how the experience was for their family.  He said, “It was great!, You guys do such a good job with that and the Egg Hunt.”  He went on to mention that the crowds were great because you can talk to others in the community.  I also saw another man who realizes his need for Christ but admitted his lifestyle makes him feel so unworthy.  Monday night I told him we have a church full of struggler’s.  We don’t come to worship Christ because we have it all together, but because we recognize that we don’t have it all together, and have found Christ as the One who give us forgiveness, purpose, and hope.  He told me yesterday: “I don’t know how to explain it, but when I was at Trunk-N-Treat I felt accepted, loved.”  He then shared some specific things he felt that needed changed in his life.  So at a receptionist desk with three others overhearing our conversation, I talked with him about Jesus Christ and that His love not only reaches out to us, but changes us.

Many of you have had discussions this week as well, as a result of the Trunk-N-Treat Outreach.  If you would be willing to share your observations in print form, please email me at davidcwc@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks again to everyone who helped and prayed to make this outreach successful!!!

Remember tomorrow night at 6:00 pm the Sisters In Spirit movie night in the church sanctuary.  Bring a friend, and a snack for a great time with the other ladies of the church.

If you are not in the habit of attending Sunday School/LIFE Connection this is a great weekend to begin.  The end of daylight savings gives you the opportunity to attend and you don’t even have to get up early, Just wait until you get home from church to set your clock back, when you arrive to church you will be an hour earlier so take your children to Sunday School and head on down to the LIFE Connection Center and experience what you have been missing!!  There is a place for you!

Sunday morning, Perry and Nancy Hubbard will be with us in both morning worship services.  We support Perry and Nancy through our Faith Promise giving.  The Hubbard’s represent Christ in Panama.  Over the next few weeks, you will be encouraged to ask God how He would have you participate financially in the spread of the Gospel worldwide through Faith Promise Giving.  It is through Faith Promise that we support the missionaries and projects in which our church is involved.

7/22/11

This Sunday is going to be a great day at Concordia Wesleyan Church.  Our worship experience wil include three parts:

1) During the worship service, several people who are being baptized will be sharing their faith-story.

2) At noon we are having a fellowship dinner in the church sanctuary.  Fried Chicken, drinks, and table service will all be provided.  Please bring a side dish or dessert and your family and friends.   By using the upstairs of the church we double our seating capacity.  There are going to be some challenges, but with your positive attitude and flexibility this is going to be a great time of finally getting to all be together in one place to share a meal together.

3) Following the meal several individuals, children up through adults, will be baptized in the sanctuary.  You won’t want to miss this incredible experience with your church family.

A lot of planning and preparation has already gone in to making this a day of celebration that honors Jesus Christ.  We need your help and involvement to make it happen.  If you have items that need refrigeration or heating take them to the church kitchen located in the basement.  Following the service there will be several people available to help bring the items upstairs to the serving tables.  Instructions will be given that day that will help transform the seating area into a dining area in a short amount of time.

Feel free to dress comfortably.

Looking  forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!

Hello Everyone!
I hope this email finds you all healthy and keeping cool.
This is just a little reminder  for you to be praying for our youth who are at camp this week.  Pastor Brad and Jill, Angie Steffen and Emily Redmond took 22 girls and 18 guys to camp this year, a total of 44 – which is by far the largest number of people Pastor Brad has ever taken to camp. Please pray for this group of youth and their sponsors.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will move through and around them, penetrating their hearts and minds to want to choose Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and to choose to be active disciples of the Gospel.  This week could very well be the turning point for many of them, and our prayers are crucial.  Please pray for the following youth:

This Sunday, we are talking about “Standing Before God”.  Following the 10:45 Worship Service, the FaithWeaver LIFE Connection and the Family Life LIFE Connection are having a potluck dinner where recent guests of our church have been invited to attend.  If you are in one of these LIFE Connections, please make a special effort to attend and get to know our guests.

Remember, the Delta Chi garage sale is this Saturday, June 4th starting at 8:00 a.m.  Funds from this event will go toward helping our youth attend camp in July.

In response to the massive destruction of the May 22nd tornado in Joplin, MO., we have been exploring the possibilities of a work team from our congregation to assist in the relief efforts in Joplin.  There are several opportunities through various organizations ranging from a few days to a full week long.  If you are interested in being part of a team from Concordia Wesleyan Church, you can contact Curt Genereux (243-4354)or you can sign up on your Communication Card on Sunday.

4/28/11

It was great to worship the Lord together this past Sunday as 349 people heard how the power of the risen Christ not only empowers us to live in forgiveness but also to live our lives for the glory of God.  I received a note from one of our guests, thanking me for explaining how sin originated and how Christ rescued us from its power.  They mentioned that they had never heard it said this way before and they were very grateful for the message from the Word.   This morning I had another individual share with me how much they appreciated Shad sharing the work of God in his life.  Several have asked about CDs  of the service and you may listen to it online at concordiawesleyan.com or request a copy on your Communication Card.

This coming Sunday, Boyd and Angela Steffen will share their journey with God, specifically touching on the deeper work God did in their lives as Angie faced serious medical issues this last fall.  The message will address how Christ stands with us as we face various trials in this world.  I urge you to continue to invite your friends, family and neighbors.  This is a message and testimony you will want to hear and have those you love experience it as well.

Following the second service on Sunday, plan on enjoying  a great meal while supporting Delta Chi Student  Ministries.  The students of Delta Chi will have a wonderful Taco Bar ( includes: hard and soft tacos, refried beans, rice, taco salad, chips and salsa dessert and drink)  available for you and your family in the basement of the church.  Enjoy the meal and the teens will also take care of the clean up!  Donations for the meal will go to help send the students to church camp in July.

Ladies you will want to purchase your tickets for the All Daughters Tea held on Saturday, May 7th.   The Tea will be at the Huckleberry Tea House with two different times to choice from:  3:00 or 4:30.  Tickets are only $6.00 and should be purchased this Sunday.

4/21/11

Looking forward to a great celebration as we gather for worship on Easter Sunday.  Every Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to invite your family, friends and neighbors, and this Sunday is no exception.  We will have special music in both the 8:00 and 10:45 worship services, and during the message we are going to hear a powerful testimony from Shad Clark.  Shad will share his journey with God that took him from prison to a vibrant relationship with the risen Christ.  You wont want to miss this service and will want those you care about to hear it as well.  Pray for the services and for those who will be attending that either dont have a relationship with Him, or are stuck in the misery of trying to live for God, but not giving up the necessary things in life that are needed to do that.  Shads story will speak directly to those are in these situations.

Our schedule of Sunday is as follows:

6:30 am Community Sunrise Service @ Airport Park

7:15 am Breakfast in the church basement (biscuits/gravy and sausage) 8:00 am Worship Service

9:15 am Sunday School

10:45 am Worship Service
